The festival of Eid al-Fitr, the Festival of Fast-breaking, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan.
As the date of Eid depends on the sighting of the moon, there may be variations in the exact date that is celebrated around the world. The announcement of the exact dates of Eid Al-Fitr may not happen until close to the start of Ramadan.
Briouats are small Moroccan pastries which are stuffed with a variety of fillings and then fried. Our recipe uses beef or lamb mince and pistachios as the filling - absolutely delicious!
Briouats are filled with meat (mostly chicken or lamb) mixed with cheese, lemon and pepper. They are wrapped in warqa (a paper-thin dough) in a triangular or cylinder shape. Briouats can also be sweet, filled with almond or peanut paste and fried, then dipped in warm honey flavored with orange blossom water.
eminded me of a pakistani kofta curry dish, in a good way! The marinated lamb meatballs in the tagine had a lovely flavour, and were cooked perfectly in the tomato based sauce. There was also a poached egg in the middle which sounds weird but was amazing. If I had to choose one tagine it would be this one, even though both were great!
